Renovation of a military facility in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a military facility.
Design-build construction services to provide a temporary, fully functional 48,000 square foot Tension Fabric Structure (TFS) hangar and O1/O2 spaces for the Naval Air Maintenance Center for Excellence (NAMCE) maintenance group during the renovation of Hangar 122. The project includes installation of the TFS hangar; provision of approximately 20 modular units for administrative and maintenance shop operations; demolition of four existing buildings totaling over 9,000 square feet; reconstruction of one 3,486 square foot storage facility; and site work including excavation up to 10 feet in depth. Work must support complex aviation operational constraints, integrate specialized systems such as hangar fire suppression, high-bay lighting, and HVAC within TFS and modular units, and comply with Department of Defense cybersecurity and Anti-Terrorism Force Protection standards. The effort is a single design-build contract covering all aspects of construction, coordination, and delivery of the temporary facility and supporting infrastructure.
