Landscaping improvements at 500 West Walker Street. Question Deadline 06/18/2026 at 5:30 PM CT All inquiries about this RFP must be submitted in writing to the Purchasing Department via email: purchasing@leaguecitytx.gov. Hard copies should be delivered to: City of League City Purchasing Department City Hall 300 West Walker League City, TX 77573 The City of League City is seeking qualified proposers to furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, transportation, and supervision necessary to complete the landscaping improvements at 500 West Walker Street in accordance with the project plans, specifications, and contract documents provided. The work shall include, but not limited to, site preparation, installation of irrigation systems, xeriscape improvements, landscape border installation, planting installation, and final sod establishment. All work shall be performed in a professional manner and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements Site Preparation and Demolition The proposer shall: o Remove and legally dispose of all existing organic material including, but not limited to, turf/grass, shrubs, groundcover and miscellaneous plantings. o Existing trees shall remain and must be protected throughout construction. o Remove roots and organic debris to allow for proper grading and installation. o Protect all utilities, structures, sidewalks, and adjacent improvements during demolition. o Remove and legally dispose of (1) large concrete clock/wall base located on the east side of the building. o Rough grade all disturbed areas to prepare for new landscape installation. C. Irrigation System Installation The proposer shall: o Install a complete irrigation system in accordance with the irrigation plans provided. o The proposer shall be required to obtain a City of League City irrigation permit. Fees for the permit shall be waived. o All irrigation work shall be performed under the supervision of and/or by a State of Texas licensed irrigator in accordance with all applicable state and local regulations. o Connection to meter will require boring to reach desired backflow preventer location. o All locations that require boring will need to be sleeved with larger pipes to protect water pipe being installed. o Systems shall include all piping, valves, heads, controllers, and necessary components. o Ensure full coverage of all landscaped and sodded areas. o Adjust system to avoid overspray onto sidewalks, buildings, and hardscape areas. o Test and fully commission the irrigation system to ensure proper operation. D. Xeriscape Installation (East Side of Entrance) The proposer shall: o Construct a xeriscape (zero space) area on the east side of the building entrance. o Install 3-inch topsoil base material. o Installation of weed barrier fabric, edging, and 3 inches of decomposed granite at grade. o Grade area to ensure proper drainage away from the building. o Install materials in accordance with design intent and details provided. E. Contoured Landscape (West Side of Entrance) The proposer shall: o Construct a contoured landscaped bed on the west side of the building entrance. o Shape and grade the bed to match the conceptual planting plan. o Install landscape border consisting of 4" H x 12" L x 7" D limestone concrete retaining wall blocks to define bed limits. o Grade area to ensure proper drainage away from the building. o Addition of approved topsoil and approved soil amendments to support plant health. F. Planting Installation The proposer shall: o Furnish and install plants, shrubs, and tress in accordance with the approved planting plan and plant list attached. o The proposer shall submit a proposed plant schedule/list with their bid identifying the plant species, container sizes, and estimated quantities intended for installation. The proposed plant schedule shall utilize all required tree species and a minimum of 90 percent of the plant material identified on the approved plant list. o Install plant material at proper depths and spacing per industry standards. o Provide approved soil amendments, native hardwood mulch, and staking as required. o Apply native hardwood mulch to all planting beds at a minimum compacted depth of 2 inches after completion of all soil preparation and planting activities. o Tree rings shall be mulched in accordance with the "3-3-3" rule: maintain a mulch depth of 3 inches, extend mulch a minimum of 3 feet from the trunk where space permits, and maintain a 3-inch clear gap around the base of the trunk to prevent mulch contact with bark. o Water all plant material immediately after installation. o Replace any damaged or unhealthy plant material prior to final acceptance. G. Sod Installation The proposer shall: o Fine grade all remaining disturbed areas not designated for planting beds or xeriscape. o Grade area to ensure proper drainage away from the building. o Ensure proper soil preparation prior to installation. o Apply a layer of Command Top dressing (or equivalent) to sod before sod installation. o Install TifTuf Bermuda variety sod in all designated turf areas. TifTuf shall be considered the required turf variety standard and not a proprietary brand-specific requirement. o Roll and water sod to ensure proper root-to-soil contact. o Sand seams after sod installation. o Establish sod until healthy growth is achieved. H. Cleanup and Final Acceptance The proposer shall: o Remove all debris, excess materials, and equipment from the site. o Leave the site clean and in a finished condition. o Ensure irrigation system is fully operational. o Ensure all planted and sodded areas are healthy and properly established prior to final appearance. I. Protection and Warranty The proposer shall: o Protect all installed work until final acceptance. o Provide a warranty period of not less than 90 days for plant material and irrigation system performance, unless otherwise specified. o Replace any dead or failing plant material during the warranty period.
