Sealed bids are invited for the construction of a 12-inch PVC & HDPE potable water main to extend west along Main Street from approximately 3232 Main Street in the Kent Narrows east area to the Chester River Beach overpass within Queen Anne’s County, Maryland. The work consists of the installation of approximately 3,200 linear feet of 12-inch PVC water sewer main via open trench and approximately 4,900 linear feet of 12-inch via horizontal directional drilling, all within SHA rights-of-way. The work includes installation of division valves, fire hydrants, and individual services, as well as repairing any trench within paving with hot mix asphalt base course at the end of each week. Contractors must refer to the SHA Permit for work hour restrictions. Bidders must submit a bid security of not less than five percent with their bid, in the required form and subject to the conditions provided in the Instructions to Bidders. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder upon satisfaction of sureties and insurance requirements. The successful bidder must furnish both a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond, each in the amount of 100% of the contract price, and a Maintenance Bond in the amount of 5% of the contract price. Bids must remain open for 60 days, and no bidder may withdraw their bid within sixty days after the bid opening. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, re-advertise, or to waive any informalities, irregularities, mistakes, errors, or omissions in any bid received and may accept any bid deemed responsive and favorable to the interests of the County.
