The scope of this project includes the construction and commissioning of a 9,088 s.f. modern forensic laboratory facility. In addition to the stand-alone lab building, the parking lot will be updated to more efficiently accommodate the parking for the campus. In collaboration with LaBella Associates, the new Laboratory has been designed to be a fully integrated laboratory that incorporates discipline-specific workflows, evidence handling pathways, and secure access controls. The design aligns with industry best practices and applicable standards for forensic laboratories with the end goal of supporting compliance with national accreditation standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025), including dedicated quality assurance spaces, controlled documentation systems, and audit-ready workflows. The design includes specialized laboratory spaces, including controlled environments for forensic biology (DNA), seized drugs analysis, toxicology, firearms and toolmarks examination, and a newly established latent prints unit. The facility will include dedicated areas for evidence intake, secure storage, analytical testing, instrumentation, report writing, and administrative operations. Additionally, collaborative workspaces and training areas have been incorporated to support professional development, internships, academic partnerships, and continuing education.
