Questions are submitted online No The new Ohio Avenue / Jimmy Camp Road Traffic Signal is located in the intersection. There will be minor roadway widenings, Slurry Seal Resurfacing, Striping, and signing for the new traffic signal improvements. The project is designed using City of Fountain and Colorado Department of Transportation specifications for both roadway and utility requirements. The new traffic signal caissons will have to be carefully placed between existing utilities located along Ohio Avenue and Jimmy Camp Road. All the caissons will be required to be hydro-vac excavated to ensure safety of the existing utility lines paralleling the caisson location. We currently have a no work zone for the NW caisson location due to right of way acquisition timing. We expect the project to be constructed in 2-pahses. Phase 1 will be placing the poles in the NE. SW, and SE quadrants with signals be installed on the diagonal from the SW to NE. This phase will need to be complete prior to school starting in mid-august 2026. Phase 2 will be installing the caisson and pole in the NW quadrant and resetting the signals in the final locations. The contractor should anticipate 2 mobilizations to complete the project. There is a Middle School and High School located south of Ohio Street which makes the intersection meet the warrants for traffic signal installation. The City has acquired the Traffic Signal Poles anchor bolts, mounting hardware and Traffic Controller to ensure that the construction is completed during School Summer Break schedule. School will resume operation mid-August 2026. The contractor will need to procure the span wire cable to complete the signal installation.
