Renovation of a transportation facility in Des Moines, Iowa. Completed plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility.
The work generally consists of abatement of asbestos-containing materials located within the Main Terminal. Bidders must submit bid security equal to ten percent of the bid in the form of a cashier’s check, certified check, share draft, or bid bond as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8. After award, the successful bidder must provide corporate Surety Performance and Payment Bonds equal to one hundred percent of the contract amount. Bids must be unconditional except as provided in the specifications. The successful bidder must also provide maintenance bonds guaranteeing the improvement for two years after acceptance. Failure to submit a completed and accurate Bidder Status Form may result in rejection of the proposal. Bidders must not include sales tax in their bids—a sales tax exemption certificate will be provided. Statutory preference is given to Iowa products and labor, and resident bidders will be given preference equal to that given by their home state to its own bidders. Disadvantaged business enterprises will be ensured full and fair opportunity to submit bids and will not be discriminated against. The project must be completed in phases no later than February 9, 2027.
