Demolition, site work and new construction of a library in Boston, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the demolition of a library; for the construction of a two-story above grade library; and for site work for a library.
The project consists of demolishing the existing South End library building and constructing a new South End Library in the South End Neighborhood of the City of Boston. The work includes building a ground up, fully electric two-story building to house a local branch of The Boston Public Library. Spaces planned for the new library include reading areas, meeting spaces of various capacities, staff work areas, and supporting spaces. The existing building will be fully demolished, except for the basement retaining walls which will be infilled with structural fill. The project will also include minor adjustments to the adjacent park, including replacement of landscape elements and updated hardscape paver zones. Sub-trades for which statements of qualification are requested include acoustical tile, electrical work, elevators, fire protection sprinkler systems, HVAC, masonry work, miscellaneous and ornamental iron, painting, plumbing, resilient floors, roofing and flashing, tile, and waterproofing, damp-proofing, and caulking.
