Site work and paving for a road / highway in Tabasco, New York. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
This is phase 2 of the Shandaken trail. It will construct a 2.5 mile trail along an abandoned stretch of the U&D Corridor from Belleayre Day Use Area to Big Indian. This will complete the 5 mile trail proposed from Highmount to Big Indian. This phase of the trail will cross the Esopus Creek via a major bridge. Completing this project will offer the opportunity to access the Shandaken Wild Forest and trail from the Town Park and Big Indian with proximate access from Route 28. Phase 1 provides access from Highmount to the Belleayre Day Use area as well as the lands of DEC and ORDA. The project is included in the County's 2026-2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
