The work consists principally of the supply and delivery of the specified crane rail and associated components to the McDuffie Terminal facility in Mobile, Alabama. The scope includes furnishing all crane rails, anchor bolts, soleplates, washers, nuts, rail clips, fillers, epoxy grout, flash welding and/or thermite welding required for the installation of the rails as shown on the drawings. All crane rail system materials and welding must be supplied and performed by one manufacturer. A complete schedule of the materials proposed is required, including catalogs, drawings, and descriptive data for approval. The work must conform to the referenced specifications and standards, notably the AREMA 2024 Manual for Railway Engineering and relevant ASTM standards. All items required for a complete installation, whether or not specifically listed, must be included and will be considered ancillary to the project. Instructions to bidders include: - Questions about the contract documents must be submitted in writing; only formal written addenda will be binding. - Proposals must be submitted in ink on the provided form, fully completed, signed in long hand, and without alteration. - Proposals must include a certified check or Bid Bond (5% of the bid, not exceeding $10,000), a signed Certificate of Compliance with the Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act, and a delivery schedule. - Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope, clearly labeled with bidder’s name, project name, and bid opening information. - No faxed or electronic bids will be accepted; conditional bids are not accepted. - Bidders are responsible for timely delivery, and late submissions will be rejected and returned unopened. - The character, quality, and quantities of the supply should be verified by the bidder prior to submission, with site and document examination implied by proposal submission. - The Alabama Port Authority uses its sales tax exemption status; contractors must apply for a sales and use tax certificate of exemption upon award. - Performance bonds, insurance requirements, and compliance with federal and state statutes regarding employment and access will apply.
