The next phase of Halkirk's utility renewal project focuses on upgrading the existing water and replacing sanitary systems along Main Street, between Railway Avenue and Alberta Avenue and continuing off to replace sanitary line from Range Rd 160 to Lagoon Area. The work will require an excavation to upgrade existing water systems and replace existing sanitary systems, restoration of work area and road surface works. Some materials within the project area will require special precautions for removal and disposals, due to the nature of existing materials and contamination. Generally, the work includes, but is not limited to the following: Site preparation and management, including pedestrian and vehicular traffic control measures and delineation of work zones. Saw cutting and removal of existing hard surfacing materials to be disposed of offsite. Removal and disposal of existing soft surfacing materials. Removal and disposal of contaminated products and materials. Fine grading and preparation of subgrade within the project limits. Placement of road structure, that could include geo-grid, geo-textile, gravel base course, and gravel surfacing. Underground utility work, upgrading existing water lines, replacing existing sanitary lines, installation of new manholes and valves. Placement of topsoil and seed over disturbed areas.
