The Work includes the construction and/or reconstruction of curb ramps and associated sidewalk improvements within the public right-of-way, in accordance with applicable ADA requirements and as modified by reference to current PennDOT standards, municipal requirements, and PROWAG (or equivalent) guidelines. The Work to be done under this contract associated with the project consists of the design, construction and third-party observation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) / PennDOT compliant curb ramps. The Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining a Professional Engineer, licensed in the State of Pennsylvania, to conduct topographic field survey of all intersections, design ADA/PennDOT compliant curb ramps per, and provide survey layout for curb ramps. All plans shall be provided to the Owner/Owner's Engineer for review and approval prior to construction. Upon approval of the designs, the Contractor shall remove all existing curbs, sidewalks, and/or curb ramps and place and compact the stone base for all curb ramps. The contractor shall maintain continuous accessible pedestrian routes that comply with ADA requirements throughout construction, including the provision of safe, clearly delineated temporary pathways, curb ramps, and appropriate staging measures to ensure uninterrupted access for all users. The Contractor shall provide ADA/PennDOT compliant curb ramps, including, depressed curb, vertical curb, sidewalk, and ADA/PennDOT compliant truncated domes, in accordance with the approved designs. The Contractor is also to replace any curb and sidewalk that are removed to facilitate the construction of compliant curb ramps in accordance with the contract requirements at no additional cost. The Contractor will remove all forms and finish all concrete surfaces. The Contractor will complete restoration of existing features, including roadway restoration, grading and seeding, incidental to items described in the measurement and payment Section 01 22 00. The Contractor will adjust utility elevations to finish grade, as necessary to facilitate the above work in accordance with ADA/PennDOT grading requirements, and coordinate with the appropriate utility company to accomplish this task.
