Description

Renovation of a laboratory facility in Newport News, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a laboratory facility.

Replacement of the primary Experimental Hall C indoor direct expansion air handling unit and corresponding outdoor condensing unit is required. Work includes installation of a maintenance platform for servicing the indoor unit and integration of updated building automation system controls. The existing system is suspended approximately 75 feet above the finished floor, requiring specialized material handling to safely lower and remove the existing unit and install the new system and associated components. Material handling operations must be performed by Barnhart Crane and Rigging in accordance with the specified engineering method. The work involves significant activities at height within the facility, requiring strict adherence to safety practices and precise coordination with facility staff and subcontractors to ensure successful execution of the project. Questions regarding the solicitation must be submitted in writing to me no later than July 21, 2026. Location: Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, 12000 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA 23606 Estimated Magnitude of Construction: Between $1,000,000 and $3,000,000. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
