Dorchester County is soliciting bids from qualified contractors to perform excavation, exposure, and restoration services at fourteen (14) locations along an existing 30-inch ductile iron force main on Dorchester Road. The purpose of the work is to expose the force main to allow inspection and condition assessment by the County's Engineer. The Contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, equipment, tools, materials, utility coordination, traffic control, trench safety systems, restoration, and incidentals necessary to complete the work. Contact with other County personnel during the bid process may result in a determination of non-responsiveness for any bid submitted by your firm. The term of the contract will be Forty-Five (45) Calendar Days from Notice to Proceed. A pre-construction meeting will be held after contract execution to discuss Notice to Proceed and scheduling. The County reserves the right to 1) reject any or all bids and any part of a bid; 2) waive informalities, technical defects, and minor irregularities in bids received; and 3) award the bid(s) received on the basis of individual items or groups of items or the entire list of items. The County reserves the right to accept or reject any alternates in any combination. Award may be made on the base bid alone or on the base bid plus or minus any alternates, whichever is determined by the County to be in its best interest. For purposes of award, the County will evaluate the combination of base bid and alternates selected by the County.
