Demolition, site work and new construction of a stadium in Sainte-Catherine, Quebec. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a stadium; and for the construction of a stadium.
Construction of a sports complex at the site of the former Bernard-Miron complex. The infrastructure will replace the current arena, built in 1995 and deemed to be at the end of its useful life. The new facility will house a regulation-size ice rink with bleachers seating approximately 700 spectators, a double gymnasium for various sports, as well as modernized locker rooms, technical facilities, storage areas, and outdoor amenities. The facilities will be designed to meet the needs of sports organizations, the local community, and Collège Charles-Lemoyne. The demolition of the existing building will take place after the opening of the new facility. TIMELINE: The project is preliminary and becomes possible thanks to the announced $20 million government contribution. Public consultations are ongoing. It is expected that the final parameters and value of the project will be determined in winter 2027. The opening of the new Sportium is planned for winter 2029, while the complete completion of the works is expected in the summer of the same year. Note. The project could be carried out using a design/build approach.
