The City of Franklin is planning a capital improvement project to replace the East Main Street bridge spanning the Harpeth River in downtown Franklin, Tennessee. The existing bridge is nearly 100 years old and has been rated “poor” by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). The replacement will include a new bridge with three travel lanes, 3.5-foot bike lanes, and 6.5-foot sidewalks separated by a concrete barrier. Additional work will improve water flow through the Harpeth River corridor. Construction is expected to begin in late summer 2026 and continue through December 2028, with phased traffic impacts and accommodations for local events and transit operations.
