Renovation of a transportation facility in Hollis, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility.
MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) is seeking experienced firms capable of providing services or products for the replacement or upgrade of the existing RS-485-based passenger communication system on LIRR's passenger service diesel locomotives and diesel hauled coaches. The purpose is to gather industry feedback regarding feasibility, integration impacts, and cost/schedule considerations for these upgrades. Respondents should have demonstrated railcar communication design and retrofit experience. Proposals will be evaluated on feasibility, ease of installation, and minimizing new in-car cable routing. Respondents should identify assumptions, risks, and information needed from LIRR to refine engineering and cost estimates. Ideally, the proposal should interface with the existing system to maintain fleet interoperability and avoid segregating communication systems during retrofits. Responses are treated as information only and do not constitute formal proposals. Interested parties are to submit a brief letter of introduction and a list of previous or current relevant projects.
