Limit - Swef 22 Racine The Racine Safety and Weight Enforcement Facility (SWEF) need to be improved. Design improvements to the existing Racine SWEF and the addition of a southbound IH 41/94 Virtual Weigh Station (VWS). Site design includes evaluation of truck movements to facilitate truck inspections at the proposed building, improvements to existing gated driveway accessing West Frontage Road, additional site lighting, weighing and storage accommodations for portable scales, and detailing utility service connections for the proposed building. Building design includes plans for a single-story prefab inspections building (approx. 5,000 SF) with single-bay inspection pit including tunnel/stairs, storage, administrative/office, break room with kitchenette, single-user toilet room, and mechanical room. The building design will also include an oil-water separator, integrated automated truck traffic monitoring system, illuminated flagpole, and non-illuminated building sign/lettering. VWS system design includes plans for a mainline VWS along southbound IH 41/94 in advance of the existing Racine SWEF site. The system will include for each of four lanes the following components: overview camera, license plate reader, USDOT number reader, and over-height detector. A system that enables real-time credential and safety screening against federal databases is also required.
