The City of Grain Valley ("City") is hereby accepting Requests for Proposals (RFP) from qualified, licensed contractors who specialize in the removal of silt and sediment from ponds/lakes, and to furnish all professional services, equipment, labor and materials necessary to complete such project. Butterfly Trail lake is located between the Grain Valley Police Station (719 R.D. Mize Road, Grain Valley, MO) and 40 Highway. Owned and operated by the City of Grain Valley, this body of water was constructed in 2005 to serve as a retention basin for stormwater management. The lake consists of two bodies of water connected by a narrow channel with a concrete bridge structure. The West portion of the lake consists of 2.35 acres of water, and the East portion (including the channel) consists of 3.9 acres of water. In total, there are approximately 6.25 acres that make up the entire body of water. This project involves the excavation of silt and sediment from this 6.25-acre body of water, returning the lake to its original depth (8' at center at both the East and West bodies). All silt and sediment removed will be stored onsite in designated areas on the north side of the lake. These designated storage areas will require the grade to be cut down with earthen berms surrounding the storage areas to keep containment. The City will load and haul off the removed silt/sediment from the storage areas at a later date.
