The Wycliffe Avenue Dam crossing Turtle Creek is currently classified by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) as a high-hazard dam. The Town, in coordination with its consultant, Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. (KHA), has developed plans and specifications to improve the structure, prevent roadway overtopping during a 100-year flood event, and reduce the dam classification to low hazard. The proposed improvements generally include: Removal of the existing 40-foot morning glory service spillway and associated dam structure to natural ground Construction of a new 120-foot-wide sharp-crested weir; nstallation of a 100-foot-wide reinforced concrete discharge channel; and Construction of a new bridge along Wycliffe Avenue spanning the discharge channel. Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2026 with an estimated duration of approximately 24 months.
