Renovation of an office development in Sterling, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a office development.

Roof repairs for the Sterling Field Support Center in Sterling, VA. The government will award a firm fixed price contract to the responsive, responsible quoter providing the best value. All contractors must be registered with the System for Award Management (SAM) and have a unique entity identifier (UEI) assigned by SAM.gov. Project Location: National Weather Service Sterling Field Support Center, 43741 Weather Service Road, Sterling, VA 20166 Primary Objective: The objective of the project is to eliminate known leaks in the roof throughout the building and mitigate possible future leaks. The required roofing is to be a metal roof retro-fit and attached to the existing roof. Roof Details: The roof of the main building is currently a standing seam metal roof with a centrally located gutter and drain system . The roof also houses a test platform that is elevated above the roof, testing equipment installed on a Unistrut structure that attaches to conduit used as building penetrations along the walkway, a wind baffle that houses all of the HVAC equipment (4 RTUs on curbs, 3 ductless splits sitting directly on the roof and a ductless split mounted to an angle iron frame that protrudes above the roof), several mechanical/gravity vent hoods and a lightning suppression system that follows the knee wall around the perimeter as well as crossing through the center of the roof and connecting to the aforementioned equipment. The roof also includes three smaller roofs that will need to be accessed by a ladder from the ground or from the main roof. The main roof is accessed via stairway on the east side of the building. Site Preparation: The entire building is surrounded by asphalt allowing access to all sides of the building. The building is occupied 5 days a week with parking located on the north and west sides of the building. Safety is paramount at SFSC, all precautions need to be considered in order to mitigate possible damage to peoples and property. Any work that could endanger staff working inside of the building and/or damage personal property outside of the building will need to be discussed with management prior to work being scheduled to allow management to make any necessary concessions. The east side of the building is partially lined with environmental chamber condensing units, extra caution will need to be taken to avoid damage and mitigate any possibility of debris entering the condenser coils. Removal and Disposal : All trash and materials removed from the roof during repairs will need to contained within the working areas while work is being performed. A dumpster may be brought to the site and kept on-site for the duration of the project to be used for disposal of trash and debris. If a dumpster is not brought to the work site, all trash is required to be removed from the site at the end of each day to avoid the spreading of trash/debris around the property, to mitigate the possibility of damage to test equipment/property and to eliminate the possibility of endangering wildlife. Inspection: Prior to submitting a quote to perform work, vendors are expected to perform an indepth inspection of the site where the work is to be performed. Once the contract is awarded no additional funding will be provided for "unforeseen circumstances" or oversites of the vendor selected to perform the work without submitting a request for change to the Point of Contact (POC) for approval. Installation Requirements: All materials used to replace/repair the roof in question must be approved for use on federal government buildings and included in the quote. If chemicals are to be used during the roof repairs/installation, all Safety Data Sheets will need to be provided to the Federal Manager prior to work beginning. Standards: All work is to be performed using best installation practices and should meet or exceed all local and international code.
