Site work and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Taylors, South Carolina. Completed plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; and for site work for a bridge / tunnel.
Fabrication and installation of bridge railings for the Swamp Rabbit Trail crossing in Greenville, SC. Question Deadline 07/21/2026 at 2:00 PM ET All inquiries regarding this proposal shall be submitted online. General Requirements All work shall be performed by certified welders employed by a licensed contractor. All welders shall hold a current AWS D1.1 certification at minimum and shall have an approved Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) on file for each weld type performed on this project. o Proposers shall include proof of a valid, active SC contractor's license with their submission. o All steel shall be weathering steel conforming to ASTM A588 or ASTM A847, similar or equal to U.S. Steel COR-TEN(R) Vertical Posts o Vertical posts shall be HSS 3" x 3" x 3/16" square hollow structural section conforming to ASTM A500, fabricated from weathering steel. o o Posts shall be attached to the base plate with full-length fillet welds on both sides of the tube. Vertical posts shall be spaced no more than 6'-0" on center. Top Rail o The top rail shall be HSS 6" x 4 " x 3/16" rectangular hollow structural section welded to the vertical posts. Horizontal Rail Infill -- AASHTO Requirements Horizontal rail members shall be spaced to comply with AASHTO bridge railing requirements, including: - Rail height shall be a minimum of 48" above the walking surface. - A 6" diameter sphere shall not pass through any opening within the bottom 27" of the railing system . An 8" diameter sphere shall not pass through any opening above 27". Flared End Sections o Flared end sections shall be installed at a 45-degree angle at all four (4) bridge corners, extending a minimum of 5'-0" beyond the edge of pavement. o Each flared section shall be fitted with a Swamp Rabbit Trail logo panel cut from 1/4" weathering steel (ASTM A588), mounted to cover the face of the angled segment. o Logo fabrication is the responsibility of the contractor. The logo shall match the existing installation at Little Creek Pedestrian Bridge. Contractor shall field-verify dimensions prior to fabrication
