The Town of Pownal is requesting proposals for Engineering and Project Management services for the installation of a temporary bridge and the repair or replacement of the existing bridge No. 42, located on Main Street, Town Highway No. 8, 42.76752, -73.24327. This bridge crosses the Hoosic River. This project takes a multi phased approach . The first phase will address design and permitting of the temporary bridge, and approaches, and include any environmental studies and documentation necessary. The second phase will explore the options for design for replacement or repair, approaches and permitting of the permanent structure. Bridge No. 42 (on Main Street / Town Highway 8) in Pownal, VT was originally built in the early 1940s . It replaced an older wooden covered bridge that was washed away in a 1938 storm . The current structure relies on steel truss and beam components supported by concrete or masonry piers that are deteriorating. Recent bridge inspection reports that describe the condition of the bridge in detail are available upon request. Scope of Work: In general, the scope of this project will follow the project development process: o Project kick-off and development of conceptual plans. o Development of preliminary plans. o Develop Right of Way (ROW) plans, if necessary, and assist with ROW documents. Develop contract plans, technical specifications, final engineer's estimate and bid documents and assist with the construction bidding process. Assistance during construction.
