This project will design and install HVAC and fire protection systems for pumpwell 4, a below-ground facility. The primary function of the HVAC system will be to provide air exchange and maintain humidity levels within the pumpwell at all times and provide sufficient outdoor air for cooling during drydock dewatering when the pump motors and electrical equipment generate significant heat. A fire protection system with a fire alarm, sprinkler system, and smoke exhaust will be installed as well. This project includes the following work. 2.2.1 Demolish existing HVAC system 2.2.2 Install new HVAC system. Circulating fans shall be installed to distribute dehumidified air throughout the facility during normal operations. A minimum of 12 fans with a minimum combined airflow of 50,000 cfm will be distributed optimally to circulate air in the area containing the main dewatering motors and pumps, as well as the drainage pumps. 2.2.2.3 Capability for manual or thermostatic controls during normal operations for utilization of outdoor air for cooling 2.2.2.4 Design for a maximum 104 degrees ambient temperature for electrical equipment during dewatering operations. 2.2.2.5 Provide a minimum 30,000 cfm outdoor air to the interior of the facility. 2.2.2.6 Provide cooling air to the underside of the pump motors. Forced airflow shall be a minimum of 15,000 cfm distributed equally to the three pump motors. 2.2.2.7 Provide cooling air to the electrical equipment. Forced airflow shall be a minimum of 15,000 cfm 2.2.2.8 Provide cooling air for occupant comfort 2.2.3 Install fire safety system.
