This project involves widening State Road (S.R.) 50 (East Colonial Drive) from Avalon Park Boulevard to east of the Econlockhatchee River bridge in Bithlo, Orange County. The scope includes adding lanes to create three travel lanes in each direction separated by a raised median, providing full and directional median openings, constructing a new traffic signal at Sherman Street, and installing a pedestrian crossing with a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) at Sandy Creek Lane. As of July 9, 2026, this project is in design and will be heard by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) at an upcoming meeting. An engineer has been selected; however, bidding is not expected to occur until the end of 2027. While a firm construction timeline has not yet been established, construction is not expected to begin prior to first quarter 2028. *Project information, including timeline and contacts, has been obtained through public sources.
