Renovation of a civil project in Bozeman, Montana. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project; and water / sewer project.

Design, bidding assistance, and construction oversight for the replacement or relining of existing chemical storage tanks and appurtenances at the Water Treatment Plant, including condition assessment of remaining tanks. The project will include replacement or relining of select existing chemical storage tanks and appurtenances, non-destructive condition assessment of all other existing tanks to determine remaining useful life, and preparation of complete bid documents suitable for public bidding under a design -bid-build delivery method. Any administrative questions regarding proposal procedures should be directed to: Mike Maas, City Clerk 406.582.2321, procurement@bozemanmt.gov. Questions relating to the RFP should be directed to: Griffin Nielsen, Water Resources Engineer, 406.582.2279, griffin.nielsen@bozemanmt.gov . Question Deadline 07/23/2026 at 5:00 PM MT The caustic tanks T-7601A and T-7601B, and caustic day tank T-7602 have all been identified for replacement with this first phase. The City is aware of a minor leak at the base of Tank T-7601B. This is the second leak to occur on the tank since its original installation, the first having been repaired by staff in the past. Due to the known failures of T-7601B and the criticality of these tanks, they are the highest priority for replacement to reduce the risk of a catastrophic tank failure. The Sourdough WTP was designed with removable roof panels to allow for access to the chemical storage tanks. These panels require a crane for removal and reinstallation. The bulk sodium hypochlorite tanks T-7502A and T-7502B, along with all caustic tanks, are located beneath the same removable panel . Due to the corrosive nature of sodium hypochlorite as well as the access logistics, the City is also planning for the replacement of tanks T-7502A and T-7502B with this phase; however, the City would like to consider relining of the sodium hypochlorite tanks as an alternative to replacement. The separate smaller 5120-gallon bulk sodium hypochlorite tank (T7501) and 850-gallon day tank (T-7503) are located beneath a separate panel; as a result there two tanks are not currently planned for replacement with this phase, but may be considered if relining is determined to be the preferred alternative for the two sodium hypochlorite tanks. Temporary measures will be needed during construction to ensure continued dosing of caustic and sodium hypochlorite. Close coordination with the WTP operation team will be required during the design and construction to maintain compliance and the high-quality water the Bozeman community enjoys.
