Reference Number 0000430396 This project consists of exterior restoration and improvement work at the Rockland County Courthouse Complex. The original courthouse, a designated historic building listed with the New York State Historic Preservation Office, requires restoration of its exterior masonry and architectural features. The limestone and granite character defining façade has become stained due to biological growth and environmental exposure and shall be cleaned and restored to its original appearance. The northwest brick façades require repointing, selective brick replacement, and replacement of deteriorated steel window lintels. Restoration work also includes the parapets, roof copings, architectural doors, ornamental features, and other historic exterior elements to preserve the building's historic character. Additional work includes restoration of building components serving both the original and new courthouse buildings, including areaways, stairs, and landscaping. The Grand Stair and adjacent planters require replacement of deteriorated concrete substructures, installation of new waterproofing systems, and new drainage piping. Existing stair railings and lighting sculptures shall also be restored. At the new courthouse, the precast concrete façade panels shall be cleaned, and all deteriorated joint sealants between panels and around window openings shall be removed and replaced. Exploratory work shall be performed at the northeast corner of the building to investigate the cause of concrete panel displacement and identify any deteriorated or failed supporting components requiring repair. The main entrance doors to the new courthouse shall be replaced, and the adjacent plaza pavement shall be restored. The existing judges' parking lot fence, gate, and associated hardware and components shall also be replaced.
