Washington bridge replacement. Construction of a new bridge replacing the existing Washington Bridge North that carries I-195 Westbound. Walsh Construction, released a timeline of the milestones they expect to hit between now and November 2028, when the newly rebuilt bridge is scheduled to reopen. Rocchio said the rebuild is well underway. Project timeline below. Summer 2026: Work on west trestle is completed as shafts are drilled for west abutment and piers 1-4. Fall 2026: Prep for remaining substructures continues as construction starts on west abutment and piers 1 and 2. Foundation installation continues for remaining piers and abutments. Winter 2026-27: Prep is completed and pier construction continues. Micropile installation begins and first steel beams are put in place. Spring 2027: Work begins on arch footings and more steel spans are installed. Construction is completed for remaining piers and east abutment. Summer 2027: Abutment construction and steel erection for main bridge are completed. Installation of Gano Street off-ramp begins, along with retaining wall construction and in-fill on eastern side. Fall 2027: Main bridge deck is poured and Gano Street underpass reopens. Winter 2027-28: Work continues on new Gano Street on-ramp. Spring 2028: Gano Street off-ramp deck is poured and Gano Street on-ramp reopens to traffic, while remaining deck work is completed on the new bridge. Summer 2028: Bridge barriers, lighting and overhead signs are installed.
