Renovation of a medical facility in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.
Electrical infrastructure upgrades to support the Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project ( HIEP). To enable functional connection and integration between the existing HI facility and the new ACT, the existing HI building must be modified. The HI Essential Integrations (HIEI) program is a suite of renovations and system upgrades to physically connect the two buildings and support the expanded healthcare infrastructure. The project scope is divided into sub projects that will be delivered in a multi-phased approach. Interdependencies to the HIEI renovations scopes include the electrical room expansion, automatic transfer switches (ATS) replacement, new transformer installation and new switchboard installation. Other sub projects include replacing the existing generators, replacing and connecting chillers to emergency power, installing new (ATS), and upgrading electrical breakers. TIMELINE: Request for Proposals from engineering consultants is currently underway. Construction procurement is expected to proceed in the second quarter of 2027; work is expected to be completed between October 2027 to July 2030. Further update may be available in fall 2026, pending award of contract. *Budget is unreleased.
