Contractor must plant Field 2 with 1400 seedlings using a spacing of 10' between rows and 6' between seedlings within rows. All seedlings must be planted at the same depth as they were grown in the nursery or slightly below with no exposed roots. Seedlings must be properly tamped in to eliminate air pockets and should not pull out with a slight tug. Seedlings must be vertically planted and do not lean by an angle more than 20 degrees. For best success of the trees, it is recommended to install 400 five-foot-tall, vented tree tubes (ex. Stakes could include commercially available stakes (ex: Plantra brand) or fiberglass rebar. These should be installed on a mix of oak species. After all the seedlings are planted and before any vegetation emerges, Contractor must spray a 4-foot-wide band down each row and directly over top of seedlings with Pendulum and Princep herbicides. Contractor must apply 2 quarts per acre of Pendulum. Contractor must apply 3 quarts per acre of Princep. Chemicals used in performing these practices shall be applied according to authorized use, labeled direction, and other federal or state policies and requirements.
