Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a mixed-use development in Schenectady, New York. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 85-unit multi-residential development; retail development; for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
A $115 million mixed-use redevelopment project is planned for the former car dealership site at 750 State Street in Schenectady's Hamilton Hill neighborhood. The project involves environmental remediation of the 2.2-acre brownfield site and construction of a mixed-use building featuring a full-service Save A Lot grocery store, 85 housing units, greenspace, a playground, and parking. Additional affordable and workforce housing will be developed on Albany and State Street within one block of the grocery store, bringing the total housing count to more than 170 units. The project is being advanced through a partnership involving the Schenectady County Metroplex Development Authority, The Community Builders, Five Corners Development, and Save A Lot. Site cleanup is expected to continue through 2027, with grocery store construction slated for 2027 and an opening planned for spring 2028.
