Question Deadline 07/31/2026 Bidders must submit their questions via e-mail to Jean.Mallare@dot.ca.gov. Written questions must include: the individual's name, firm name, e-mail address and must reference IFB No. 32A0726. 1. Contractor agrees to provide to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) a new fire alarm system, as described herein. Contractor agrees to provide all labor, equipment, parts, materials, licenses, permits, travel, drawings, designs , submittal , programming, and incidentals to remove and replace one (1 ) fire alarm system. 2. The services shall be performed at the Caltrans Division of Equipment Main Shop at 1603 South B Street, Stockton, CA. 3. Any reference to Caltrans Contract Manager shall also include his/her designee. 4. This Agreement will commence on September 1 , 2026 (estimate), or upon approval by Caltrans, whichever is later, and no work shall begin before that time. This Agreement is of no effect unless approved by Caltrans. Contractor shall not receive payment for work performed prior to approval of the Agreement and before receipt of notice to proceed by Caltrans Contract Manager. This Agreement will expire on August 31 , 2027 (estimate). The services shall be provided during normal business hours Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., excluding State holidays. The parties may amend this Agreement as permitted by law 1) Contractor shall remove existing alarm system and various components and install, connect, and activate a new fully functional fire alarm system that meets NFPA 72, California Fire Code, within 60 days after plans are approved by the Fire Marshalls office. Contractor shall provide proof of submission of plans and submittals to the Fire Marshalls office within 30 days of the execution of the contract. 2) Removal shall include all existing notification and initiating devices including the Fire alarm Control Panel , and all existing cable to those devices. 3) Contractor shall install all devices and cables and program fire alarm control panels to communicate with new devices, any automatic shutdown of existing components for a complete and functional fire alarm system. 4) Services for a complete installation include, but are not limited to, conduits, wiring heat sensors, strobes, smoke detectors, flow sensors, valve switches, and all signal and communications related to the fire alarm system. Contractor shall furnish new fire alarm control panels, relays and any other components necessary to ensure the system automatically transmits trouble and alarm indicators. 5) The new Fire Alarm Control Panel and items listed below shall not be of a proprietary nature to allow future servicing needs to be done by any business qualified in performing those services. 6) Fire alarm system shall be at minimum equivalent to the existing and include the following: a) One (1 ) new UL listed fire alarm network control panel , such as Kidde Evolve-ML-R, or equivalent. b) 24 smoke detectors, such as Kidde KI-OSD, or equivalent. c) 24 heat detectors , such as Kidde KI- HRD, or equivalent. d ) 17 ceiling mount horn strobes , such as Kidde EGCAVRF, or equivalent. e) 18 fire alarm pull stations, such as Kidde GSA-M278, or equivalent. f) One (1 ) outdoor wall mount horn strobe, such as Kidde WG4RF-HVMC, or equivalent. g) Six (6) ceiling mount strobes, such as Kidde EGCVRF, or equivalent. h) One (1 ) booster power supply, such as Kidde MIRBPS6A, or equivalent. i) One (1 ) remote annunciator, such as Kidde K-RLCD-CR-2, or equivalent. j) Two (2) 18-amp batteries, such as Kidde 12V17A, or equivalent. k) Two (2) 7-amp hour batteries, such as Kidde 12V6A5, or equivalent. 1 ) Six (6) monitor modules for sprinkler valves and cell dialer monitoring, such as Kidde GSA-CT1, or equivalent. m) One (1 ) cellular radio for 24-hour monitoring. n) Existing sprinkler valve switches with new. o) Underground cables to backflow valves. p) Mount one (1 ) tamper switch on each backflow, extend and/or install cable as necessary from ground up. q) All industry standard cables, fasteners, and other accessories required for the installation of these devices. 7) Contractor shall coordinate the routing of all electrical conduits with Caltrans Contract Manager. 8) Contractor shall provide programming, final inspection , testing, and acceptance in phases. 9) Contractor shall provide operations and maintenance data and final as-built drawings at completion of the project. 10) Contractor shall verify the proper installation and operation of the fire alarm signals and reporting devices and test all components prior to Caltrans Contract Manager and Fire Marshall inspection. 11 ) Contractor shall provide testing acceptance and training to include: a) Testing and Office of the State Fire Marshall Inspection and Approval. b) Training for Caltrans Contract Manager and Caltrans staff detailing the proper operation and maintenance of the installed system. c) Contractor to provide two (2) copies of operational instruction manuals to Caltrans Contract Manager
