Renovation of a fire / police facility in Hanover, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.
This project involves relocating and replacing Fire Station #8 Montpelier and Fire Station #10 Chickahominy to meet the needs of a modern, professionally staffed fire station. Fire Station #8 will be replaced on the same site. Fire Station #10 was originally designed for volunteer firefighters and lacks the necessary space and amenities for Hanover County Fire-EMS personnel. Due to property size limitations, the station cannot be rebuilt on its existing site, making land acquisition a necessary part of the project. Station #8 was approved as part of the FY25 budget at $13.8M. The funding in FY28 will supplement that appropriation for a new total project cost of $16.5M. The project is included in the County 2027-2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of July 27,2026, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
