Renovation of a municipal facility in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

The Armstrong heat exchanger which enables heat exchange between the hot water heating loop and the glycol heating loop and driven by pump #5 (hot water side) and pump #6 (the glycol side), is in poor operating condition. The scope of work for this project is: 1.Calculate the capacity of the heat exchanger; 2.Evaluate the conditions and the size of the associated pumps on both the hot water and glycol sides; 3.Replace the heat exchanger with new unit of adequate size and make changes to the pumps, i.e. replace or modify as applicable, to ensure compatibility and operational reliability. When removing the old heat exchanger the following are to be considered: a) Drain system of glycol. b) Dispose of glycolRemove old heat exchanger . c) Install new heater exchanger. d) Re pipe to new heat exchanger. e) Flush system. f) New mechanical seal for pump #6 and look at posibility to rebuild/replace isolation valves. g) Install new glycol. h) Reinsulate lines and heat exchanger. i) Test and verify operation. All work shall be in accordance with NBC , NECB, and applicable codes and standards. TIMELINE: Request for Proposals from engineering consultants is underway. Scope of work and schedules for design and construction may be confirmed in fall/late 2026. *Budget is unreleased.
