Structural work involves The project calls for the construction of a new k-8 facility and all related site work and outdoor facilities. The K-8 project site includes approximately 14.5 acres disturbed of school land along Peoples Road in Madison , AL. The building scope includes a single-story academic building including administration areas, classrooms, media center, gymnasium and kitchen/cafeteria . The primary structural system for the facility is CMU with steel frame structure, structural decking, metal panels, unit masonry, metal stud framing, PVC and standing seam roofing, curtain wall, and storefront glazing. The scope includes a storm shelter. The new school will be approximately 78,700 square feet distributed throughout the building, which will serve an enrollment capacity of roughly 600 students. In addition to the core curriculum spaces, there are 2 flex spaces within the Media Center, four flex classrooms, music and arts classroom, a competition gymnasium, and a cafeteria and commercial kitchen. All the spaces in the school will be served by both wired and wireless technology as well as the most up to date mechanical and electrical systems. Site work includes several outdoor playgrounds, drop off canopies on 3 sides, as well as parking lot, rider line and road construction.
