Contour, slope, rough grade, and compact remaining sub-base to required subgrade, within limits of infields, to specified grades, as per construction drawings and specifications prior to installing specified structural base. In areas of the existing baseball and softball field designated to receive new synthetic turf, the contractor shall choose one of the following Concrete Base Options and install as part of the base bid. The selected concrete base forms the structural base to support the new drainage/shock pad and synthetic turf playing field: 1.9.1 Structural Grid Option: Contractor shall install a 1-5/8" deep structural base using an interlocking 40-millimeter deep polyolefin, steel or aluminum grid filled with 3,000-psi concrete. Grid shall be a maximum of 6 inches across. 1.9.2 Fiber mesh Concrete Option: Contractor shall install 3.5 inches of 3,000-psi concrete with 3lbs FiberForce 750 mesh additive or 3 lbs or other approved equal structural fiber equivalent. A synthetic turf anchor system encompassing the perimeter of areas receiving new synthetic turf is required to anchor the perimeter of the new synthetic turf. The anchor system shall be existing, or new, "poured in place" concrete curbing or structure; or the anchor system can be constructed with new UC4B pressure treated nailer boards and stakes to match the finish grade of the concrete base as specified in the construction drawings. On areas that do not have a concrete curb, the new UC4B pressure treated nailer board will be anchored with new UC4B pressure treated stakes, approved for ground contact, as per the Edge Detail ~ Turf Installation with Transition to Natural Grass shown in the construction drawings and specifications. Install the perimeter collector trenches and tie in as shown on the construction drawings. Install all tufted and inlaid lines and markings as shown in the final approved plan, and on synthetic turf system spec. Install home plates on all fields. Home plates on the fields are to be installed and anchored into the structural base of the field with metal ground anchor(s).
