Renovation of a municipal facility in Bakersfield, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

Installation and operation of the MRF fire suppression system, including equipment procurement and installation/construction, and evaluation of existing fire protection infrastructure. Bonds: Bid Bond required (unspecified amount), 20% Performance Bond, Payment Bond required (unspecified amount). The City of Bakersfield (City) desires to enter into an agreement with a qualified professional firm (Proposer or Contractor) that will provide turnkey permitting design, engineering, supply, commissioning, testing, and training for autonomous fire detection and fire suppression systems at the MRF, 2260 South Union Avenue, Bakersfield , California 93307. The project consists of a fire suppression system: (1 ) to protect exterior material storage areas and tipping pad and (2) protecting the MRF processing line. The successful proposer shall provide all permitting engineering, equipment, software, controls, testing, training, and commissioning necessary to deliver a complete operational system. The Contractor shall have qualified staff to provide all the services necessary for the installation and operation of the MRF fire suppression system , equipment procurement, and equipment installation and construction. The Contractor shall evaluate the existing fire protection infrastructure and, where feasible, incorporate any salvageable or compatible components into the proposed fire suppression system. Any existing equipment that is also Recovery Facility (MRF) Fire Suppression System determined to be obsolete, incompatible, or unsuitable for the new system shall be identified by the Contractor and properly disposed of by the Contractor and documented as part of the Contractor's permitting design recommendations. The MRF processes up to 20,000 tons of residential and commercial recyclables annually. Due to the combustible nature of the materials handled and stored on -site, the City is seeking a modern, autonomous fire detection and suppression system to enhance life safety, protect critical infrastructure and equipment, minimize operational disruptions, and improve the facility's overall fire protection capabilities. The Contractor shall provide the following equipment and all materials and labor required to install and/or construct the equipment: Complete site verification and field measurements. Provide licensed fire protection permitting engineering and hydraulic calculations. Design autonomous fire detection and suppression system. Provide flame detection, thermal imaging, automated suppression monitors or equivalent technology, control panels/PLC, operator interface, communications, and software. Provide all equipment, startup, commissioning, testing, operator training, and O&M manuals. Coordinate with City's available fire water supply and verify hydraulic performance. Provide warranty and post-installation technical support. 48-hour response time is required for diagnostics and repair of the system and 24- hour phone technician support is mandatory. Technicians must be physically located in the state of California and respond within 48 hours to the facility when necessary.
