The purpose of this dredging operation is to remove accumulated sediment over the intake screen at the end of the intake pipe to maintain adequate water flow capacity and ensure the uninterrupted operation of the intake system. Dredging over and around an existing water intake pipe located in the Catawba River from the City of Belmont's Raw Water Intake Pump Station.
