Site work and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Dundalk, Maryland. Completed plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; and for site work for a bridge / tunnel.
Reconstruction of the Francis Scott Key Bridge main span and marine approaches. Questions are due no later than 4:00 p.m., EST, on August 4, 2026. All questions shall be submitted via email to mdtaprocurement@mdta.state.md.us with a cc to jdavis8@mdta.state.md.us. as per Adda 4. The Francis Scott Key Bridge (FSK) was a 1.7-mile-long bridge on I -695 spanning the navigable Patapsco River providing a critical connection to the Port of Baltimore. I-695 is a fully access controlled highway, forming the southeastern section of the beltway loop around Baltimore City. The Project will construct the Main Span bridge and Marine Approaches. The proposed Main Span bridge shall be a cable-stayed bridge whose main span over the Federal Navigational Channel shall be 1,665 feet long with a minimum vertical clearance as defined in the approved USCG Bridge Permit (1-25-5 and approved amendments). MDTA intends to secure the design services for the Main Span , cable stayed bridge and portions of the vessel collision protection system . These designers, contracted directly to MDTA, will complete the design and provide signed and sealed plans for the cable stayed bridge and the vessel collision protection system for the main pylons (also referred to as Pier 24 and 25). These scope elements will be Directive Work and MDTA will be providing design support during construction to support Requests for Information , Shop Drawing Reviews, and plan changes during construction (Redlines). The remainder of the design, including the Marine Approach spans and the vessel collision protection for the remainder of the cable stayed foundations (Piers 22, 23, 26, and 27) will be the responsibility of the DB Team to design to completion, sign and seal, and construct, including design support during construction. EWP-2 and EWP-4 - Production Pile Procurement and Installation Procurement of 122 ea . 96-inch diameter steel pipe piles with a wall thickness of 1.5-inch for the pylon/pier protection foundations and 16 ea . 96-inch diameter steel pipe piles with a wall thickness of 2-inches for pier protection foundations. The pylon foundation piles (82 piles) will be coated with one coat of coal tar epoxy from the top of the pipe to 20 feet below the mudline and will include a minimum of 10 shear rings. The pier protection piles (56 piles) will be uncoated and will include a minimum of 6 shear rings. EWP-3 and EWP-5 - Trestle Material Procurement and Installation Procurement and Installation of mainline south and north access trestle. South trestle includes over 50,000 sf of access trestle supported by temporary 36-inch diameter piles. North trestle incudes over 80,000 sf of access trestle supported by temporary 36-inch diameter piles. EWP-8 - Pier Protection Pile Procurement Procurement of 100 ea. 96-inch diameter steel pipe piles with a wall thickness of 1.5-inch for the pylon pier protection foundations. No coating or shear rings are included in these piles. MDTA anticipates installing these piles as part of an upcoming EWP. Complete the Project at or below the total construction budget range of $3.5 billion to $4.0 billion while minimizing life-cycle costs. *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
