Construction of a new viewing platform and stairs. Question Deadline 08/07/2026 at 3:00 PM CT All questions related to this RFB must be in writing and received by the Brown County Purchasing Department Questions can be delivered via email to: bcpurchasing@browncountywi.gov Scope of Work o Demolition and removal of the existing lower overlook platform and existing stair systems leading to the creek area. Included in demolition is removal of all metal concrete anchors flush with the surface and disposal of all materials. Demolition does not include removal of existing stone and concrete stairs, unless portions are required to be removed for installation of new. o Construction and installation of one new scenic lower overlook viewing platform approximately 6 feet wide by 40 feet utilizing galvanized steel framing, solid plastic decking, and handrails as required by code. Must meet all local and state building codes, including Wisconsin Commercial Building Codes 361-366. o Construction and installation of a new galvanized steel stairway system with landings and railings connecting the existing gravel pathway to the lower overlook platform. Plastic stair tread shall be affixed to the galvanized steel stairway system. o Construction and installation of an additional galvanized steel stairway and landings extending from the lower overlook platform to a natural suitable base. Contractors must develop appropriate support structures to support this lower stairway. The creek floods in spring and this area may be underwater. o Installation of plastic stair treads and corrosion-resistant materials suitable for long-term outdoor exposure and heavy public use. o Site grading and stabilization associated with stair and platform installation, as well as all areas disturbed during the construction process. o Contractors shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, permits, mobilization, disposal, and incidentals necessary to complete the project. o Removal of brush and selective vegetation management within the designated project area. o Any topsoil needed shall be added, and the area shall be seeded with native low-growth-prairie seed mix. All disturbed areas shall be covered with erosion control mesh and straw stabilization materials on disturbed slopes and hillside areas. o Installation of riprap, filter fabric, or additional erosion control measures, where necessary, to stabilize disturbed areas under and around the new stairway. o Protection of existing park infrastructure, pathways, guard rails, fencing, trees, utilities, and natural resources throughout construction. o Coordination with Brown County Parks regarding access routes, staging areas, construction schedule, and public safety measures.
