The proposed biosolids improvements focus on modernizing solids handling and increasing operational flexibility, reliability, and redundancy. The centerpiece of the project is replacement of the obsolete GBT-1 with a combination gravity belt thickener/belt filter press (GBT/BFP) unit within the existing Sludge Control Facility. This configuration allows the facility to both thicken and dewater sludge, providing the ability to produce either liquid biosolids or dewatered cake depending on operational needs. The total cost for the overall Phase 1 project including the CM services is currently budgeted at $4,800,000.
