All questions related to this Request for Proposals shall be directed to Tyler Dahlin at (802) 774-1478 or tylerd@rutlandrec.com or Shelley Lutz at shelley.lutz@gmail.com. Other than for very routine questions, all questions will be answered in writing and distributed to all interested parties Build an accessible trail, approximately 4600' long, following part of Lower Giorgetti , an existing trail, looping along East Creek back to the existing parking lot and connecting to Rutland Creek Path, which is an accessible non-motorized 10-foot-wide, paved path with less than 5% grade. The contractor will install erosion control where it is needed. Excavate organic material and create subgrade prep. Use of 6 inches of 1.5" washed drainage stone for the base layer, compacted. Non-woven Geotextile fabric for stabilization and filtration of soil particles needs to be fully wrapped around the base layer of 1.5" drainage stone. *See example in appendix . o Mid-layer of 3/4 " minus trail base stone, compacted at a depth of 3"-4". The top layer of Trail tread will be 5' wide with 3/8th minus surface material sourced from Brown's Quarry in Castleton (green) at a depth of 3" - 4", compacted with roller, plate compactor, or equivalent. Cross slope-outslope of no more than 2-3%. Install fully accessible bench cuts, where needed to accentuate trail curves to lengthen the run and reduce grades . Bumps outs to provide passing spaces where needed (Following guidelines outlined in USFS Trail Accessibility Guidelines (FSTAG 2013)). o Types of machinery to be used: excavator, material hauler, mini-skid steer, compactor, roller. Machinery will be supplied by the contractor and thoroughly washed before work. Timber mats or swamp mats are required if machinery is in the wetland. Follow AMP's for wetland construction in VT. o Hand tools (McLeods, Hazel hoes, shovels, pulaskis) for finish work. Finish work to be raked out and plate compacted or rolled. The contractor will coordinate with the Rutland Recreation and Parks Department to install pre-built bridges/boardwalks along the trail within wetlands. Contractor to clean up any leftover construction material once the project is completed. Trail edges must be revegetated.
