(BRONX AVE, TINAMOU AVE, GREENBACK RD) Purpose 1. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, testing coordination, traffic control , and incidentals necessary to construct a new double chip seal roadway and associated improvements in accordance with the Contract Documents and applicable County and State standards. B. Roadway Construction 1. The Contractor shall construct the new double chip seal roadway generally following the alignment of the existing limerock roadway. The roadway shall be centered along the existing roadway alignment to the greatest extent practicable. 2. Roadway grading and construction shall include all work necessary to provide a smooth, safe, and properly drained finished roadway surface. C. Driveways, Intersections, and Tie-Ins 1. The Contractor shall exercise special care when grading and matching all side streets, intersections, and driveways into the new roadway surface. Requirements Include: a. Existing driveways shall receive a standard five-foot (5') double chip seal apron, including a six-inch (6") limerock base. b. Driveway and roadway tie-ins shall be constructed to provide a smooth transition without drop-offs or abrupt grade changes. C. New intersection radii shall be constructed with a minimum radius of thirty feet (30') where feasible. Where site constraints exist, the Contractor shall construct the largest practical radius that can be accommodated. D. Drainage and Grading 1. Upon completion of construction activities, the Contractor shall restore all disturbed areas, including areas outside the designated construction limits, to pre-construction conditions at no additional cost to the County. The Contractor shall: a. Remove all construction debris, trash, sediment, silt, and excess materials from the project site. b. Dispose of unsuitable materials off-site in accordance with applicable regulations. C. Utilize suitable excavated material as fill within the project limits where appropriate. d. Remove and properly dispose of excess suitable material when no longer required for project purposes. E. Sign Relocation 1. All existing signs affected by construction activities shall be relocated in accordance with the Hernando County Facilities Design Guidelines and as directed by the County. F. Protected Species Requirements 1. The Contractor shall install exclusionary fencing around all identified gopher tortoise burrows located within twenty-five feet (25') of construction activities. Requirements include: a. Installation of a minimum of fifty feet (50' ) of exclusionary fencing at each burrow location, where required. b. Maintenance of fencing throughout construction operations as necessary to protect wildlife and comply with applicable environmental requirements. G. Maintenance of Traffic ( MOT) 1. The Contractor shall provide and maintain traffic control in accordance with the latest FDOT standards and requirements. Requirements include: a. Installation of post-mounted MOT signs in accordance with FDOT Standard Plans Index Series 102-600 through 102-660, as applicable. b. All MOT signage shall be installed and inspected prior to commencing any work within the County right-of-way. C. The County reserves the right to suspend work immediately if traffic control requirements are not properly implemented, regardless of Notice to Proceed (NTP) status. H. Materials Testing and Quality Control 1. The Contractor shall be responsible for ensuring all materials are available and ready for testing by the County's designated testing laboratory. Requirements include: a. Coordination of testing through the on-site Hernando County Department of Public Works Inspector. b. Providing a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours' notice for all testing activities. C. Payment of costs associated with failed tests performed by the County's testing laboratory.
