The work includes lowering and controlling water levels in the sediment basin so sediment removal, grading, and construction can occur under dry, stable conditions. Pumped water shall be routed through approved filtration to prevent sediment discharge. Water must be lowered to expose the basin bottom, typically within 1 foot of the low-point grade or as directed by the Engineer. The Contractor shall control pumping rates, monitor discharge, and maintain all erosion and sediment control measures. The Contractor is fully responsible for protecting adjacent structures, maintaining system performance, and repairing any damage caused by dewatering. The Contractor shall design, install, operate, monitor, and remove the dewatering system and add equipment as needed to maintain required water levels. The Contractor shall obtain all required permits, including those associated with well installation, and comply with the NDEE General Dewatering Permit (NEG671000). The Owner will notify the Contractor of any NDEE requirements; the Contractor shall adjust operations as needed. The Owner will pay for any required water sampling and lab testing.
