The University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (University), Commonwealth of Massachusetts, invites qualified and experienced General Contractor (GC) firms and Electrical and HVAC Subcontractors (SC) Contractor Qualification DCAMM Certificate Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. The Project scope includes the complete demolition and renovation of existing laboratory and office space. RFI Submission Deadline: 08/27/2026 at 5:00PM EDT Requests for Clarifications (RFIs) will be Submitted through Electronically. The project is located on the 7th Floor of the Basic Wing at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts. The Project scope includes the complete demolition and renovation of existing laboratory and office space and converting it into new BSL3 laboratory space. The construction to occur will be in an active school environment and it will be the General Contractor's responsibility to adhere to all UMass Medical School Protocols for work occurring adjacent to occupied spaces. Work will involve the removal of all existing interior finishes, partitions, ceilings, and associated mechanical , electrical , Low voltage, Fire Alarm, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP/FP/FA) systems within the defined project area down to a shell space condition. The renovated space will support a specialized BSL-3 laboratory program. The scope includes the installation of all new MEP/FP/ FA elements required to support BSL-3 operations. Major equipment and associated infrastructure will be located either above the ceiling or within the building's mechanical penthouse above. IT is to be noted that there will be required roof penetration work for supporting MEPFP/design. All new systems will be fully integrated with the existing building utilities, services, and critical systems. The project also includes the installation of specialized laboratory equipment and associated infrastructure necessary to meet programmatic and operational requirements.
