The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking a full-service General Contractor to furnish all labor, services, and materials required to upgrade and replace the existing cathodic protection equipment. The scope includes removal of current equipment, installation of new components, and testing of all installed components, including electrical isolation at specified locations. Lastly, bidders should send a verification email to the named Contract Administrator of the IFB after the email submission(s) of proposal to bids@metro.net. The verification email should indicate that a bid has been submitted by Vendor Name for IFB# on X number of emails. A. The LACMTA system Passenger A, B , C, D and E Lines have corrosion control measures in place to mitigate external side corrosion of buried metallic structures such as pipelines and elevator steel cylinder casings. Corrosion control in the form of cathodic protection was installed during the original construction of each subgrade passenger station and TPSS with buried firewater/water piping. Many upgrades to these corrosion control systems are necessary to extend the service life of the structures intended for external side corrosion protection. B. The principal elements include the Contract Specifications & Drawings and reference drawings that include details on the required upgrades. C. The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (referred hereafter as Metro) is seeking a General Contractor Company, referred hereinafter as the Contractor, to provide all services and materials delineated in the specification and drawings. D. The Contractor shall provide services for the materials supply, installation, and subsequent testing associated with the following items Upgrading existing cathodic protection systems by installing new anodes, new test stations and replacing any existing cathodic protection equipment as shown in the drawings. Removal of existing equipment to be replaced shall be performed for test stations and terminal boards as shown in the drawings. Removal or abandonment of existing depleted anodes shall be at the discretion of the Contractor except in the case of the elevator casing anodes which are to be removed prior to replacement. E. The replacement components of the corrosion control systems shall comply with these principal elements and shall improve upon the existing equipment installed. F. Corrosion control system upgrades shall be in strict coordination with Metro's Rail and Facilities Maintenance staff and shall not interrupt the existing revenue train(s) operations. All work shall be performed in a workman like manner and to the highest professional standards using the highest qualified and professional work force. G. The existing corrosion control equipment are located in Metro Passenger Line underground stations, Related Yards and at aboveground locations in public areas. H. Existing Metro Stations listed in Section 1.04.A may require additional corrosion protection at their critical infrastructure equipment; such as elevators, escalators, or metal roof canopies. The Contractor will install new test wells to monitor these components. This work is being defined as Additional Corrosion Protection Equipment Installations. These additional test wells will be installed similar to existing Metro Corrosion Protection equipment. Metro will work closely with the contactor to identify each location. Install new electrical isolation at the noted locations and testing to confirm adequate electrical isolation on piping in vaults . Testing of the remaining electrical isolation within the vaults shall be completed to confirm adequate working conditions or any changes in condition in electrical isolation status. Perform system testing for all components to ensure proper installation and adequate corrosion control for the protected structures. All field commissioning shall be conducted or under the supervision of a Cathodic Protection Specialist once replacements are completed. Cathodic Protection Specialist shall be NACE/AMPP Certified PROJECT LOCATIONS A. Metro desires to upgrade the existing corrosion control systems and related equipment at the following locations: 1 Metro A Line Yards Division 21 Yard 1800 Baker St, Los Angeles, CA 90012 Division 11 Yard 4350 E 208th St, Long Beach, CA 9081 2.Metro B and D Line Passenger Stations North Hollywood Station Universal City Station Hollywood/Highland Station Hollywood/Vine Station e . Hollywood/Western Station f. Vermont/Sunset Station g . Vermont/Santa Monica Station h. Vermont/Beverly Station i. Wilshire/Vermont Station j. Wilshire/Normandy Station Wilshire/Western Station Westlake/MacArthur Park Station 7th Street/Metro Station Pershing Square Station 0. Civic Center Station p. Union Square Station q. Additional Corrosion Protection Equipment Installations 3.Metro B and D Line Yard a.
