Written Location Directions : The Tim Malone Seam Fire site is located off Melvina Drive on Chloe Creek, near the community of Pikeville, KY. The project area is centrally located at N 37d 28m 48.36s, W 82d 30m 7.44s. To reach the site from the Prestonsburg Regional Field office, travel to Pikeville on US 23 South, take exit ramp onto KY- 1384 toward downtown Pikeville, turn right onto KY- 1426 (Lower Chloe Creek) for 0.8 miles, turn left across a concrete bridge onto Melvina Drive, and the last house in the hollow is Mr. Malone's. The Chris Johnson Seam Fire Site is located near the community of Pikeville, KY. The project area is centrally located at N 37 29' 6.9", W 82 30' 8.2". To reach the site from the Prestonsburg Regional Field office, travel to Pikeville on US 23 South, take exit ramp onto KY-1384 toward downtown Pikeville 0.6 miles, turn left onto KY-1426 for approximately 0.5 miles past shopping center, turn right for 0.1 miles to a locked gate on your left. Mr. Johnson lives in a trailer across from the gate access entrance. Basic Project Description: Improve and Construct Access Roads to access drilling area for the purpose of drilling 22 boreholes and extinguishing an underground coal seam fire with flowable fill and phenolic foam. A burning gob pile will also be excavated, quenched, and replaced. Bonds: Bid Bond required (unspecified amount).
