Replacement of existing carpet at Fire Station 2. The proposer to whom this contract is awarded ("Contractor") shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, supervision, and disposal necessary to complete the project. A. Existing Flooring Removal The Contractor shall: Remove and properly dispose of all existing glued-down carpet and carpet tile. Remove and dispose of existing vinyl wall base where required. Provide dumpsters and all hauling necessary for disposal of project debris. Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local disposal regulations. B. Floor Preparation Prior to installation, the Contractor shall: Inspect all existing floor surfaces. Relocate all fixtures which may obstruct the removal of current flooring materials. Locations for removed material shall be subject to the approval of the Village. Perform all necessary floor preparation. Skim coat existing adhesive residue using an approved floor patching compound equivalent to ARDEX Feather Finish. Prepare substrates in accordance with flooring manufacturer requirements. C. Carpet Installation Firehouse Living Areas Install commercial flooring in the following areas: All bunk rooms Conference rooms and offices Day room Materials shall include: Commercial carpet tile in bunk rooms and offices. Broadloom carpet in the Day room. Side Stripe / Fairview 24x24 or equivalent Carpet tile all bunkrooms and offices Miranda Stictchlock /Cherry tree or equivalent Broadloom carpet (Day Room) 1. First Floor Install new commercial carpet tile in: Training Room CPR Room Offices Fire Prevention General Office Bunk Rooms Install new broadloom carpet in the Day Room. Materials shall include: Stripe Right / Fairview 24x24 Carpet tile for training room and CPR storage room Craftwork / Jeweler - Light Gray - 24x24 Carpet tile for common areas Craftwork / Carver -Dark Gray- 24x24 Carpet tile for offices Common areas shall include a light gray field with random dark gray accent tiles to match the approved layout and pre-installation review. See Exhibit A, First Floor Carpet Layout, for more detail. 2. Second Floor Install commercial carpet tile in: Offices Conference Room Common Areas Materials shall include: Craftwork/ Jeweler - Light Gray - 24x24 Carpet tile for common areas Craftwork/ Carver -Dark Gray - 24x24 Carpet tile for offices and conference room Common areas shall include a light gray field with random dark gray accent tiles to match the approved layout and pre-installation review. See Exhibit A, Second Floor Carpet Layout, for more detail 3. Adhesives and Installation The contractor shall: Furnish manufacturer-approved modular carpet tile adhesive. Install flooring in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Maintain proper layout and pattern alignment throughout. Replace damaged tiles resulting from installation. 4. Wall Base The contractor shall: Remove existing vinyl cove base. Furnish and install new 4-inch vinyl cove base throughout all renovated areas Color shall be selected by the Owner prior to installation. 5. Furniture Moving The Contractor shall provide all labor necessary to: Move furniture. Move cubicles where applicable. Return all furniture to its original location upon completion. The Village will not provide labor for furniture relocation. The Village shall direct to where furniture and cubicles may be stored throughout the duration of the project. 6. Site Protection The Contractor shall: Protect existing finishes during construction. Maintain safe access for Fire Department operations. Coordinate work to minimize disruption to emergency services. Remove all debris daily. Leave the work area clean upon completion. 7. Pre-Installation Requirements Prior to beginning work, the contractor shall: Attend a mandatory pre-construction meeting. Visit the site to verify existing conditions. Verify all field measurements before ordering materials. 8. Work Schedule Because Fire Station #2 is an active emergency response facility: Work shall be coordinated with Village staff. Construction shall be phased as necessary. Contractor shall maintain access to occupied portions of the building at all times. Any interruption to Fire Department operations shall require prior approval from the Village. 9. Material Requirements Materials proposed shall be commercial-grade and designed for high-traffic public safety facilities. Equivalent products may be submitted for approval provided they meet or exceed: Durability Wear resistance Manufacturer warranty Appearance Maintenance requirements 10. Warranty The Contractor shall provide: Minimum two (2) year workmanship warranty Manufacturer's material warranty on all carpet, carpet tile, adhesives, and wall base. 11. Contractor Qualifications Contractors shall: Be licensed to perform commercial flooring installation in Illinois. Carry all required insurance. Have experience installing carpet in occupied commercial or municipal buildings. Provide at least three references for similar projects completed within the last five years. 12. Proposal Requirements Each proposal shall include: Lump sum project price. Unit pricing for additional flooring replacement, if requested. Proposed project schedule. Product data sheets.
