Improvements to I-35 to FM 2439/Hunter Road include: Add an overpass over the Union Pacific Railroad with two lanes in each direction (no median). Widen the roadway to two lanes in each direction, separated by a median. Add shoulders and shared-use paths on both sides of the roadway TIMELINE: As of September 9, 2026, the project is actively progressing through design and right-of-way (ROW) acquisition phases. Neither design nor construction team have been confirmed at this time.
