This project renovates and reconfigures interior spaces within the administration building to improve collections storage, research accessibility and operational efficiency in accordance with American Alliance of Museums (AAM) standards. Improvements include reorganizing the paleontology collections to create an open floor plan with upgraded fossil storage systems, expanding research capacity within the library and archives by adding dedicated research stations and optimizing book and map storage. The project also establishes a dedicated artifact-processing area for incoming collections and enhances attic storage capacity by installing additional shelving. Additional upgrades include minor interior renovations to support staff and visitors, such as a small meeting area and improved restroom facilities. These improvements will enhance preservation of museum assets, expand research access and support increased public engagement. The project is included in the City's 2027-2032 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
