Texas A&M University is initiating the development of a new VetMed Animal Housing Facility to support the mission of the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (VMBS), which is dedicated to advancing animal, human, and environmental health through education, research, clinical care, and community outreach. This new onestory facility will be constructed north of the existing Veterinary Medicine Building 3 (VICI), strategically positioned to ensure seamless operational integration and efficient circulation between the two buildings. The proposed facility will serve as a critical extension of the VICI building, providing specialized spaces including animal intake, dog and cat housing, teaching exam rooms, isolation holding, support spaces and an enclosed animal run. In addition to supporting academic and clinical functions, the facility will enhance student learning through handson experience and contribute to community welfare by offering diagnostic and surgical services for animals from local shelters. The design and programming of the facility will reflect VetMed's commitment to transformational education and student success, while also reinforcing its role as a leader in veterinary and biomedical sciences.
